AKM Ashraf is an Indian politician and he was a Member of Kasargod District Panchayat representing Manjeshwar. AKM was born to K.M Aboobacker and Hawamma. He is an Alumnus of GovindaPai College Manjeshwar where he pursued graduation in Kannada (literature).The people of Tulunadu popularly called him acronym AKM.his ability of speaking multi language Malayalam,Kannada,Tulu,Urdu and English made him well known polyglot orator of Northern Kerala.
He was the youngest director of Kerala Bamboo Corporation, founder president of Kerala Kabaddi Association.
He started his political career since the student year, actively worked for Muslim Student Federation (MSF).He believed that injustice to the students is a threat to justice everywhere and stood for right of student community in and out of the campus. The Govinda Pai campus admired him by extending unbeatable record of college Union first year Student Editor, Second year Chairman and third year General Secretary of college Union. After graduating, he appointed as the Muslim Youth league (MYL) President of Manjeshwaram Mandalam Committee. Later he became MYL Kasaragod District General Secretary and presently he is serving as the secretary of Kerala State Muslim Youth League.
As an elected President of Manjeshwar Block Panchayat, jb.AKM focused his energies on enabling people to avail better social and economic opportunities. He has emphasized job creation, and improvement in the quality and quantity of health and education services of Manjeshwar. Realizing the importance of cleanliness, he has worked hard to bring rural communities closer through the campaign My Manjeshwar Clean Manjeshwar in region.
Jb.AKM travels extensively in Kerala and Gulf Countries. He takes a keen interest on issues that affect the youth and financially backward people. He encourages the youth to take an active part in helping the financially backward people especially on helping for medical treatment of poor’s in association with KMCC, and shoulder greater social and political responsibility towards Orphan children’s of Manjeshwar.
