Introduction
editI'm a junior at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, majoring in English. I'm working as a peer editor in a class called Global Youth Studies, aiming to extend public knowledge of the discipline outside the global north. In the Spring 2013 version of this course, I edited the page street children on Wikipedia. My major edits included a name change for the article, a section on Greece and the United States, a revised lead paragraph, correction of sources from previous edits, a restructure of the article's format, and trimming the fat-- i.e. unnecessary and unsubstantiated claims-- from the article. Additionally, I worked as a peer editor with the Fall 2013 version of this class, too.
If you are a member of the Fall 2014 course, I'm available to help you out with creating and editing a new page. Adapting the page to better suit viewers, restructuring the article, hyperlinking to other pages, finding suitable sources to incorporate, and selecting a page to work on are all things I can assist with, in addition to most other things on the 'Wikipedia side' of the class.
If you'd like to contact me, check out the class syllabus for my availability and email address. Please send me an email at least 24 hours in advance. If none of the times I have available work for you, let me know and we can figure something else out.
