This is an essay. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. This page is not an encyclopedia article, nor is it one of Wikipedia's policies or guidelines, as it has not been thoroughly vetted by the community. Wikipedia is a web-based, free-contented encyclopedia. It's content are openly editable by almost everyone. However, after a few months of observation, Wikipedia is getting less and less reliable. Problem of vandalism is getting more serious. Let me explain more in the next section.
Vandalism and unconstructive edits
I am a Huggle user. When I patrol edits by IPs or registered users, I frequently found edits that are not related to the article, pure vandalism, unsourced content or rumors, personal attacks and unconstructive minor edits. These are not beneficial to Wikipedia and may create a wrong atmosphere for new editors or IPs to edit. They may mimic the bad behaviors, causing anti-vandalism editors work endlessly reverting those unnecessary edits. There are about 1000 people being blocked everyday.[1] I personally ain't tired of reverting vandalism (I guess that's because I spent less time here), but some editors are totally sick of facing those gibberish and pressing the rollback button. They (Not everyone) may lose confident, trust or passion in Wikipedia or Wikipedians. This may cause them to 'retire' or entirely give up wasting time in Wikipedia. Imagine if 90% of vandalism fighters and administrators disappear, what would Wikipedia become?
Less reliable
An encyclopedia is a reference work or compendium providing summaries of information from either all branches of knowledge or from a particular field or discipline.[2] Wikipedia gears towards this. However, as mentioned in the previous sections, more and more edits are either unsourced or personal attacks. This makes Wikipedia less reliable. People may prefer other websites other than Wikipedia. The reputation of Wikipedia may also be affected.
Conclusion
Wikipedia is still a good place for research or information, and I will still try my best to fight vandalism and improve articles in Wikipedia.
