Project Wallace

Project Wallace was the 1985 Expedition of the Royal Entomological Society of London. It commemorated the publication of The Malay Archipelago by Alfred Russel Wallace. The expedition took place thoughout 1985, primarily in the Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (then known as the Dumoga Bone National Park) located on the Minahassa Peninsula in Sulawesi Utara. Members of the scientific community were supported by members of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, who provided logistical and manpower assistance.

Base Camp for the expedition was established, near the small village of Doluduo, at the confluence of the Toraut and Tumpah rivers. 00°34′01″N 123°54′24″E / 0.56694°N 123.90667°E / 0.56694; 123.90667 From here exploration into the forest to the North was carried out on foot.
