PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
edit- Kermantablo company.
- 2007-2008
- As a Software Development Team Leader I had to provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to the software development team members. I was also responsible for monitoring the quantitative and qualitative results to be achieved in regular bases as well as prioritizing issues that needed to be tackled in order to help identify responsible members within the team to carry out those tasks.
- I implemented and provided other members with a cross-platform software library. The library is based on STL and DataReel. The goal of the library is to provide a network communication based on IEC 60870-5-104 protocol as well as to cover licensing, Jalali calendar, Data logging and Error Handling.
- 2004-2007
- Electrical Power Technology Centre(MATN)
- 2003-2004
- As a Software Engineer I was part of the design and implementation team in a project funded by Tavanir to customise and implement an Event Data Recorder. I was fortunate to have had hands-on Linux Kernel programming and PostgreSQL.
- Industrial Automation Lab in UBC
- 2001-2003
- I got the job as a Lab Manager when I was still a student in the university. At the beginning I was in charge of day to day running and administration of the lab. Later, I got the chance to help graduate students with their theses and projects under wonderful Professor Elizabeth Croft's supervision. There, I strengthened my skills in programming C++ and became familiar with named pipes. Working in IAL was a great opportunity for me to learn about management in general and research and innovative methods in particular. The IAL team was very successful and I am proud that the Innovation Magazine published an article about our work and praised our team in June 2002.
- Kimiarizan Casting Company
- 1995-1999
- I Co-Founded and worked in a startup company specialising in metal casting. I left the company for further education and to follow my passion for computers.
SKILLS
edit- Programming Languages
- It is the language I admire the most and am looking forward to release of C++0x. I recommend The Design and Evolution of C++ book by bjarne Stroustrup to whoever wants to learn the concept of the language. For those who are well into the language it is good to take a good look at the books by Herb Sutter I found them all amazing.
- I choose to use C instead of C++ only when I am limited to or I want to challenge myself by going through the questions in the Dennis Ritchie's book,The C Programming Language.
- Best language to think recursively and a good practice for functional programming.
INTERESTS
edit- Books
- Adieu Gary Cooper by Romain Gary is one of my favourites. Lenni's simple logic, his hatred of dirty politics and war and above all his love of ski is impressive.
- There are few Iranians who have not read Dai Jan Napoleon by Iraj Pezeshkzad. There is a good English translation of the novel(My Uncle Napoleon) available as well. When speaking Farsi with friends it's fun to use the quotes from the book especially with those who know the book by heart.
- Sports
- Ski
- Tennis
- Swimming
- Biking
