In 1994, Ahmar Azam started his professional career at Horwath Clark Whitehill Chartered Accountants UK[1], a Top 10 accounting firm, where he gained accounting and auditing experience in a well diversified industry sector. Subsequently, his family moved to the U.S.[[2]] where he continued his professional career working as a manager at Deloitte [3], New York (auditing and advisory), specializing in foreign banks. After leaving Deloitte [4], he served as a Corporate Financial Controller for a leading publicly held clinical research company (Life Sciences Research Inc.) [5], and subsequently as the Head of internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley [[6]]expert for a multi billion publicly held real estate finance company (Centerline Capital Group, previously CharterMac Corp.)[7]. At CharterMac Corp. [8], Ahmar acquired and developed professional expertise to deliver internal auditing, SOX [[9]] requirements and Finance and Accounting related processes in an offshore environment. This experience eventually led to the birth of Hanagrove[10].
Before launching Hanagrove, Ahmar worked as an Executive Vice President at National Bank of Pakistan [11], a leading foreign bank, where he served as General Manager of the Wall Street Branch [12]and as the Head of Enterprise-wide Risk Management, Americas Region. He has also served as a member of the Legal & Regulatory Committee of the Institute of International Bankers, USA (IIB)[13] and several other risk management and auditing organization. Ahmar is an active part of the banking and professional community in the Tri-State. He is also a trained public and motivational speaker.
Ahmar Azam received B.Sc Honors (Accounting and Finance) from the London School of Economics and Political Science [[14]]. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)[[15]]. Ahmar and his wife are happily married with three beautiful and intelligent kids.
