Aidan Barnett (born January 27, 2008) is an American entrepreneur and activist who founded The Barnett Foundation where he serves as the foundations director of legal and legislative affairs.[1]
Early life and education
editAidan Barnett is currently enrolled as a junior at Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater where he serves as the vice-president of The Best Buddies Club[2]. Throughout his education Barnett has focused on giving back to his community through philanthropy initiatives. Barnett is expected to gradate from Calvary Christian High School in May of 2026

editFounder of The Barnett Foundation
editIn September of 2023, Aidan Barnett founded The Barnett Foundation, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization focused on protecting students victim of religious discrimination in the public school system based in Tampa Florida[3]. Since founding The Barnett Foundation, Barnett has joined the foundation as its Director of Legal & Legislative Affairs.
Director of Legal & Legislative Affairs
editIn January of 2024, Barnett became The Barnett Foundation's Director of Legal & Legislative Affairs. In this role Barnett oversees the foundations legal and legislative programs.
In November of 2024, Barnett launched his foundations "Legislative Initiative" in order to preserve and further protect students right to religious expression. Barnett stated "While there are federal and state laws protecting students, they are not enough and not enforced". as apart of this initiative, The Barnett Foundation works with elected officials on the local, state, and federal level to introduce new legislation that protect students of all religious backgrounds.
Political Campaigns & Involvement
editIn August of 2024, Barnett endorsed Layla Collins, wife of Florida State Senator Jay Collins[4] for the Hillsborough County School Board.
During the 2024 Hillsborough County School Board Election, Barnett served as an advisor/coordinator to Layla Collins[5]. During this time Barnett was allegedly targeted and harassed by Nadia Combs, member of the Hillsborough County School Board District 1. This lead Barnett to file a formal ethics complaint with the Florida Commission on Ethics against Nadia Combs. In September of 2024, the Florida Commission on Ethics began an investigation into Barnett's ethics complaint.
In November of 2024, Barnett endorsed a slate of republican as well as democratic candidates running for local, state, and federal office.
Personal life
editAside from his academics and work at The Barnett Foundation, Aidan Barnett is also enrolled at Atlas Aviation Flight School located on Davis Island in Downtown Tampa. Barnett also serves as an Ambassador for College Board’s BigFuture program, assisting high school students prepare for life after high school.
