The Iowa Republican Party has a rich heritage in social conservatism.[1]
The Iowa Republican Party plays an influential role in the seletion of the Republican Parties' nominee for President of the United States by holding caucus in January to choose which candidate will recieve Iowa's delegates at the Republican National Convention.[2]
In August of 2011 Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann won the Iowa Republican Party's Straw Poll as an early indicator of where the electorate in the Nation's first state to choose Presidential nominees, lie. [3]
