Baktamur as-Saqi was a mamluk of Sultan Baybars al-Jashnakir. Following the latter's deposition by Sultan an-Nasir Muhammad in 1310, Baktamur became a mamluk of an-Nasir Muhammad.[1] He married the daughter of an-Nasir Muhammad's favored son for succession, Anuk, in 1332.[1] This drew the suspicion of an-Nasir Muhammad, who viewed it as a sign of Baktamur's ambition to take the throne.[1]
