Dr. Simard is the Project Manager, Modelling Framework at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. His education includes a PhD in systems analysis and forest-fire science. As a Project Leader for the US Forest Service, his research addressed large, complex problems, such as measuring fire severity, and developing a national information system to predict large fires. On returning to the Canadian Forest Service, he coordinated development of the National Wildland Fire Information System. He developed KM projects, programs, and strategies for Natural Resources Canada. In this context, he led the development of a knowledge services framework for S&T organizations. He also led the implementation of a Knowledge Management initiative and strategic planning for two global information networks related to disaster management and forestry. Dr. Simard’s current focus is on knowledge services in Government of Canada science-based Departments.
