Multitalented nineteen-year-old Cape Town born South African Artist, Alec Cadent, grew up in a Christian family with solid Christian values. This stood him in good stead throughout his young life. Being a child prodigy at the age of nine and with all the pressures of the stage his faith has kept him. Coming from a predominantly brass orientated and choral music extended family, has shaped his sound and music understanding.
With his father being a composer, songwriter and producer and twin brother a drummer, it made life easier for this young aspiring singer, composer and producer.
During 2012 at the age of 11 years old Alec wrote his first song called “With All my heart”. This song inspired him to overcome his heart condition with the assistance of his doctors, parents and family The following year he went through a nine-hour Conno Ross Heart Surgery at Red Cross Hospital. (Book released, My Testimony 2013)
This traumatic experience inspired him to become a prolific songwriter and take his music serious.
At a tender age together with his father Andy Petersen and brother Daniel he performed at numerous churches, community functions and shared some big stages with renowned artist. Hence leading to numerous tv appearances eg. Expresso Morning Show, Yo Tv, Hectic Nine9, Etv and Cape Tv. and various radio interviews
May 2014 Alec Cadent appeared on South Africa's Got Talent where he performed his own original song “Shine your Light” making it through to the first round. Although he did not continue to the next round, he gained more confidence in himself and started performing using the disorder and illness to inspire others to not give up on themselves.
Alec released his first Cd age 11 years old 2012 “With all my heart.”
In 2015 Alec Cadent started his secondary phase where he started experiencing changes in his vocal range. He is spending most of his time in the family home studio perfecting his gift.
Over the last three years Alec Cadent has been developing his own unique sound, leaning more towards the Soulful/R&N Pop sound and he started producing his own music.
