The Carebears (usually abreviated to TCB) were a Swedish Atari ST demo group active in the late 1980's and early 90s. They are perhaps best known for the Cuddly Demos megademo. They were early pioneers of the technique of "sync-scrolling" which emulated hardware scrolling by carefully timed accesses to the video shifter [1] to "break the borders" causing the next scanline to start from a later position in memory. They were also responsible for the commercial TCB Tracker - a multi-track digital music composer and player.
Some of their members would later work for Thalion Software and work on the game Enchanted Land which used many demo techniques to achieve it's high colour smooth scrolling game play.
