I am from Fort Yukon, Alaska and grew up in the Crowtown section of the village. I graduated from high school in Fort Yukon. I attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where I majored in English for a couple of years before switching to an Interdisciplinary B.A. program which was entitled Gwich'in Language Pedagogy. I am a semi-fluent speaker of Gwich'in language, and understand some Japanese as well.
My pass times include learning more stories from the Gwich'in oral tradition, which I hope to record someday. I am particularly interested in stories that haven't been recorded or transcribed. Someday I hope to actually have the equipment to record the people I know. Currently I am a teacher at the Fort Yukon High School, and I am hoping to learn more Gwich'in as I prepare myself to teach the Gwich'in language. I have been involved in Gwich'in language revitalization efforts for several years now and I anticipate that I will continue my involvement, because its always fun to learn new things.
I am interested in working with people to develop the Gwich'in page, and notable Gwich'in figures as well. I added a page for John Fredson, Clarence Alexander, Jonathon Solomon, and I would like to work on or create pages for the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge, Dr. Grafton Burke, Chief Esias Loola, Chief Johnny Frank, Sarah Frank, and see the expansion of the Hudson Stuck page as well. There are other people that should be mentioned in Wikipedia like the explorer John Bell who came to Fort Yukon in 1845 too.
