Article Evaluation

The facts in the rational-legal authority article do not have reliable and appropriate reference. I find that mostly everything that is in the article correlates with the topic. Some facts seem not to go along with the article but if you continue to read the article comes together. i believe that the article is very neutral, I believe that the article is not biased and is based on rational legal authority as a whole. The information is coming from two places a lecture and an article in the encyclopedia based on rational legal authority. I believed that these sources are fairly neutral, with the sole purpose to inform on Rational-legal authority. There aren't many citations, there are only two. Most of the information if not all comes from these two citations. The links to these to two citations to work. The information is not out of date but there should be more information on how rational legal authority works.

Coleman’s article begins with a statement that declares that in a sociological view authority does not have one sole meaning and there is no “consensus” to it. Coleman then goes into how authority is defined. He gives a definition through how Max Weber defined authority. Coleman gives a brief definition of the difference between power and authority. Coleman gives an insight to how much and how authority is used. Coleman explains that authority runs any part of our lives. He then gives a definition to Max Weber’s three types of authority. This article would be helpful in our project because it is the information we are looking for to add to the Wikipedia page. It gives an insight to the way authority works and how it goes through our daily lives, which would help in giving examples to support our research.

This article begins with an introduction to the meaning of what authority is and Max Weber’s three types of authority, traditional, charismatic, and rational legal authority. He explains why he believes that rational legal authority is the best of the three types of authority and he then explains the reason of his belief. Mtetesha then gives a definition of key concepts like power and the meaning of rational. He concludes by reinstating his idea that rational legal authority because of its rationality and structure. I believe this would help in our research into the project because it would give us an insight into why rational legal authority works better than the other two types of authority. It will help us establish a connection into seeing how rational legal authority works and proceeds to be the most rational of all three types of legitimacy that Max Weber establishes.

I believe that this would a very helpful resource for our research because it will give an insight to how bureaucratization is lead by rational legal authority. This will give us an easier understanding on how rational legal authority functions in our government and how it works in most modern governments. This resource will help us in our research because it will give us a better understanding of rational legal authority and how it compares the traditional and charismatic authority. It will help us understand the differences and the works of rational authority.

He does explain some of the consequences of rational legal authority. This will help us understand that rational legal authority does have flaws and help us understand that this type of authority is not perfect. This article will help in being a resource that provides us with helpful information.
