About Alexhopkins: I have done a little copy-editing on a few articles -- just getting my feet wet.
I am a researcher, writer, and editor by profession. I've written and edited an autiotape series on history and geography, many environmental reports, and a number of published textbooks on English grammar and English as a Second Language. I've also written over 50 published magazine articles as well as innumerable websites. I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology. I have done wide reading on a variety of topics including history, the environment, education, and many social issues such as economic development and peace studies.
I'm interested in editing Wikipedia as a way to improve its articles, in particular, to make them more readable. I agree with the Wikipedia approach of trying to ensure the accuracy of articles. But if they are not read or understood, accuracy is wasted. The articles should also be clear, interesting, and enjoyable to read. This will allow readers to educate themselves and in that way become more effective in getting things done in their lives.
