Professionally, I'm a science writer. I have bachelors and masters degrees from Rice University (majors: materials science & chemistry), worked at the Beaumont Enterprise & Journal, Gulf States Utilities (now part of Entergy), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and IBM Research. After retiring from IBM, I have been writing for some scientific organizations and, currently, the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and HGST (formerly IBM's disk drive business & R&D organization, which was bought by Hitachi and is currently owned by Western Digital).
I live in the Almaden Valley area of south San Jose, Calif.
