Joshua Oluoch Amimo (born on 15th August 1975) is a Kenya researcher who works at Center for Food Animal Health, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Ohio State University where he studies viral infectious diseases specializing on swine viral enteric diseases. He also works as a lecturer in Animal Science at the University of Nairobi Kenya. Prior to joining the UoN he was research technologist on livestock breeding strategies for low input production systems operating project at International Livestock research Institute (ILRI). He was a visiting scholar at the Ohio State University in 2011 to 2012 studying rotaviruses in animals and human. He joined the Biosciences of east and central Africa-International Livestock Research Institute (BecA-ILRI) hub as research student fellow (2013-2014) and later as research fellow (2016-2017)

Early Life and Education

Amimo grew up in Matera village in Siaya County in Kenya from a family of subsistence farmer with 11 siblings. He attended Matera Primary School before Joining Barkanyango Secondary School where he sat his KCSE exam. He then joins the University of Nairobi where he graduated with Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Amimo also holds MSc (2007) and PhD (2014) in Animal Sciences specializing in Animal Genetics and Breeding (Genetics of infectious diseases) from the same university.
