Hi, I'm Amit Sen alias Amitava Sengupta, a sexagenerian, desperately seeking foothold on a long breathtaking social ladder which, incidentally, amuses me these days thanks to the painstaking efforts of my young friends who think I'm fit for this belated climb or scramble ! Let me introduce myself in brief. I did my postgraduation and worked with different organizations like the AUC Calcutta (not Kolkata forty years back),the Regional News Unit, AIR Calcutta for nearly 8 years from 1975 till 1983. These were all contractual assignments which I could continue, taking leave from my mother concern FCI where I had joined in 1978. I left goverment job in 1999 and took up travel writing in the Aajkal group from 2001 and continued there till 2004. Then I left and joined the Uttar Banga Sambad at its Bardhan office as a sub . I stayed there for 2 years . Then again I worked with a travel magazine published from Howrah for a very brief period when it struck me that I'm not suited for jobs that have regulatory bindings. I came back home and started working on a book on the history of Jewish diaspora, a topic I was interested in since 1985. My Bengali book "Ehudi katha" was the result of more than 2years research . It was published in 2015 by Rupali Prakashan,Kolkata and had won academic acclaims since. I'm currently working on my second book , a brief history of the silkroads from BC 200 till the 14th century. Since the early days of my career I had nurtured a passion for nature and wildlife photography and that led me on occasions to less trodden tracks for the last 15 years. Humbly speaking I possess a good personal repository of photos of creatures and wildernesses which I had loved most and will continue to love as long as I live.
