Biography

edit

Early life:

edit

Ty Gordon was born in Newport Beach, California on July 26th, 1990. He, along with his parents, Jeff and Lisa, and his sister, Paige, moved to Battle Ground, Washington in 1993, a suburb of Portland, Oregon.

Career beginnings:

edit

Gordon began his career in film in 2010, when he was 20 years old, by taking on a production assistant internship for the TV show Leverage. It was there that he got his first taste of life on a movie set.

In 2014, when he was 24, Gordon took on his second film internship, working for the decorated documentary filmmaker T.C. Johnstone[6]. Part of this internship was driving down to Mexico with Johnstone and others to capture footage of a ranch for blind Mexican children as supplementary footage for Johnstone's documentary Hearing Everett[7]. It was here that Gordon began to experience the adventure behind filmmaking and shooting at different locations.

In 2015, when he was 25, Gordon began writing his own screenplays. He recalls getting lost in his imaginative created cinematic universes. This was a difficult time in Gordon's life, one that was riddled by drug and alcohol abuse, loss, and trouble. According to Gordon, screenwriting during this period of his life was a sort of salvation for him.

In early 2017, Gordon took on his third film internship, through the faith-based film production company, The Bible Project[8]. It was here that Gordon attained a good deal of knowledge on how a production company operates. It was also an experience that really grew his faith, according to Gordon.

Becoming established in the industry:

edit

Later that year, Gordon took on a film apprenticeship program through a program called The Film Connection. It was through this program that he made his short film Thriller, Harm, under the mentorship of established filmmaker Jon Garcia[9]. It was also through this program that Gordon wrote the screenplay for his upcoming sci-fi epic feature film, World War III, under the mentorship of Hollywood screenwriter Philip Halprin[10]. Gordon has since copyrighted the script for World War III and plans to begin pre-production on it in 2022.

Projects

edit

Gordon is currently writing the script for his next film, California Dreaming, a feature-length film that in Gordon’s own words is a unconventional coming-of-age dramady. Gordon will again star as the lead actor, write, direct, produce, and executive produce this film. He plans to begin pre-production on California Dreaming in early 2022.

Gordon’s feature-length sci-fi epic World War III is slated as the next film after California Dreaming. He will again star as the lead actor, write, direct, produce, and executive produce for this film.

Other Projects:

edit

Gordon and his team at Wooden Finger Studios have recently created a mobile video game called Ethereal Run[11], and a graphic novel called Ethereal. Both projects are part of the cinematic universe of his film World War III. The story featured in the video game and graphic novel serves as a prequel to World War III, with the events occurring 13 years prior to that of World War III. Ethereal and Ethereal Run are both set in the year 2047 and follow the same storyline; World War III is set in the year 2060.

Also in production is a documentary helmed by Gordon and his team at Wooden Finger Studios called Hollywood Big Hitters. The documentary is centered on the lives and careers of Ty Gordon, Robert Thomas Preston[12], Andrew John[13], and Ben Torkelson[14], on their rise to Hollywood stardom. They are all actors and filmmakers and they make up the Wooden Finger Studios team, and are all best friends. They have coined themselves the Wagyu Boys. The name of the group pays homage to their affinity for Wagyu beef and living the high life. Ben Torkelson is serving as the primary cinematographer for Hollywood Big Hitters. Gordon and his team plan to release the documentary in a series of one-hour segments.
