- This is a page to document where I'm up to on the can of worms surrounding the equivalences between various star ranks.
- What it is not: It should not be:
- A discussion page. I generally don't like to use the talk pages of my user subpages, but this is an exception. Feel free to add any signed comments there.
- A private page. Like all Wikipedia pages, it belongs to the community, and exists only to improve Wikipedia. You can and should update it if it promotes that. But on the other hand it is also in a sense my page. If it's to be used for collaborative editing, it should probably be forked or moved to the project namespace.
- An attack page. Discussions of user behaviour belong in the first instance on user talk pages, and should then be escalated in need following the dispute resolution procedures and protocols. That's what they're there for.
Issues
editA bit of a bucket... no particular order. And it probably should be titled "Possible issues". That's understood. Hopefully at least some of them will be resolved as No Trouble Found, but there's a smell of trouble at least.
- Star rank currently [1] redirects to Ranks in the Boy Scouts of America. It could be worse, it could redirect to Ranks in the Junior Woodchucks, a fictional organisation in which Huey, Dewey and Louie were ranked as Ten Star Generals.
Things that might or might not even be issues
editEven more of a bucket, things that are less likely to be issues but still might be, for example they seem to contradict some other Wikipedia article but maybe it's the other one that is wrong.
- Uniforms and insignia of the Kriegsmarine#Commissioned Officer ranks currently [2] lists seven officer's ranks: Großadmiral (Grand Admiral, Generaladmiral (General Admiral}, Admiral, Vizeadmiral (Vice Admiral), Konteradmiral (Counter Admiral), Kommodore (Commodore) and Kapitän zur See (Captain at Sea).
