|Aion|subject=cryptocurrency/blockchain network
The Aion Network is a Blockchain network built by Toronto based company Nuco. Aion is a third generation blockchain focusing on solving some of the core challenges of existing blockchains. The three main challenges Aion aims to resolve are blockchain scalability, privacy, and interoperability.[1]
Aion-1 Network
editThe Aion network provides a structure and supporting protocols for dissimilar blockchain networks to communicate.[2] Like a computer network these standards will allow information sharing between networks. Additionally, however, the Aion network will allow value and logic as well as information to be shared between the connected blockchains. The value of this network is that it will allow blockchains to transact with other blockchains. This will provide interoperability between existing blockchains.[3]
Aion Token
editThe Aion Token is a ERC20 based token currently tradeable on various Cryptocurrency exchange When the Aion network is operational these ERC20 tokens will be converted to Aion network tokens.[4] On the Aion network the Aion Token will serve as a Proof-of-stake so that a node can become a transaction validator. The token will be used to monetize interchain bridges and create new blockchains.
Reception
editThe Aion initial coin offering Pre-sale ended October 10, 2017[5] the pre-sale and early stage investments led to Aion achieving its funding goals without hosting a public sale. Aion officially cancelled their public Sale Nov. 24, 2017[6]
Aion publicly announced its advisory board in newstatements on various cryptocurrency news sources in early October.[7][8]
The Blockchain Research Institute has identified Aion as a new platform to watch in 2018.[9]
