Republic of Korea flag or Tegekgi (Kor. 대한민국의 국기), together with emblem and anthem is considered one of the state symbols of South korea.
History
editThe current flag of the Repubic of Korea was adopted in 1948. It is (kor. 태극기, trans. Great start flag) amended version of Tegekgi flag. Tegekgi as state flag is used and in Choson (1883-1897), and in Korean empire (1897-1910), and in Republic of Korea temporary governments. Original Tegekgi was made by Choson's translator Lee Eng Jun (kor.이응준) in 1882.
