I am a retired archivist having worked in Canada and come into contact with a lot of collections of records relating to important but sometimes obscure individuals and events. I thought it might be useful to place that information in more widely accessible and visible forums, such as Wikipedia and YouTube. My motto: "archives must come to the people, not expect people to come to the archives!" This thought isn't new; archives have been searching to make their holdings more accessible since they first started up, but the Web 2.0 technology in particular is making this desire more possible than ever before.
