• 2008: graduated as a historian and turkologist from the University Utrecht with a specialization in 'Turkish History'.
• 2009: doctoral degree in 'International Relations' from the University Utrecht with a thesis about "The emerging international relations between the Netherlands and Turkey" (original title: "De opkomende internationale betrekkingen tussen Nederland en Turkije").
• 2010-current: Ph.D.-fellow at a Dutch university doing research concerning the Balkan Wars of 1912/1913 while working as chairman of the Institute for Turkish Studies.
