Longjam Gobin Singh (born 4 March 1993) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Pune F.C. in the I-League.
Career
editEarly Career
editBorn in Laitonjam, Manipur, Singh started playing football from the age of 13 when his uncle helped him get into the Regular Football Academy in Imphal.[1] Eventually Singh was spotted by scouts from the Mohun Bagan Academy and thus started to attend the academy from 2008, however, due to an injury he had to leave the academy in 2010.[1] Singh then began his senior career with local Manipuri side Turjpu FC for the 2010 state league season.[1] After one season with Turjpu, Singh trialed at the Pune F.C. Academy and made into the side.[1] While with the academy Singh won two I-League U19 titles in both 2012 and 2013.[1]
Pune
editIn the summer of 2013, Singh was called-up to the first-team and was considered as one of four senior players to be a part of the Pune squad that would compete in the 2013 Durand Cup.[2] He then made his first-team debut in that very tournament on 9 September 2013 in Pune's first match against Army Red at the Ambedkar Stadium in Delhi.[3] Singh started the match and played the whole 90 minutes as Pune lost the match 2–0.[3]
Then, after the tournament, it was announced that Singh would be apart of the Pune squad during the 2013–14 I-League.[4]
