Around 1750, in the location of current Anders Square was founded the first military cementery in the city. Ammong notable people burried there was Friedrich Graf von Wrangel (1784–1877), a general field marshal of the Prussian Army. There were also burried 104 soldiers of French Army, that became prisioners during the Franco-Prussian War.

The cementery was closed for new burrials in 1900, and its area was halved, for the construction of current Św. Wojciecha Street and tenement house. In 1913, the 577 graves were exhumated from the portion of the cementery, and moved to the remaining part, while there was constructed the garrioj church, now known as the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord.

In 1939, behind the church was constructed an Air raid shelter, placed within an artificial hill. In 1945, thecemetery was deconstructed, and turned into a garden square. The bodues were never exhumated. The only remaining element of the former necropolis is a rock with a commemorative inspiration, taken from the grave of thr 104 prisioners of war.
