About Me

edit

My hobbies include running, hiking, and reading. Reading allows networks in your brain to mature and grow stronger and more sophisticated. [1] My favorite book is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, and I mostly read fiction, YA, and fantasy novels. I also like to combine by love of running and hiking by trail running. September of 2020, I ran rim to rim in the Grand Canyon and it was my favorite and furthest run.

My Wikipedia Interest

edit

I will use Wikipedia in the future for research of my own interests. This involves a wide variety if subjects, one day I might want to know purpose of different vitamins, and the next day I will want to know the causes of climate change. If I see an opportunity to edit a page, I will, but ultimately that in not my main focus. I will be fact checking the information I find on Wikipedia, so I will add any valuable sources I find.

Article evaluation

edit

Recently I have become more interested in the gaming community, especially Minecraft and the people who create content within that game. One of my favorite Minecraft twitch streamers/ youtubers is GeorgeNotFound. When I visited his page on Wikipedia, I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: its lack of citations, it lack of completeness, and out dated information.

Citations

edit

This page contains some citations, but not enough for the information present. It does contain a link to GeorgeNotFound's YouTube channel, but only as a general reference and not linked to any specific video of his, so its hard to tell what information is supported by this link. Also, the other sources within the page are from biased articles so they are not the most reliable. Most of the information present it not directly cited either, examples being his years active and collaborations.

Lack of Completeness

edit

GeorgeNotFound had been creating content since 2013[2], and since then has reached many milestones in his career. The Wikipedia page briefly mentions one of his YouTube videos, but that video has 8.7 million views[3]. The video itself holds no milestones in his career, so it is insignificant to the information on the Wikipedia page. Surprisingly, there is no mention of his more successful videos, multiple reaching over 20 million views[4].

Out Dated Information

edit

Although is it stated that this page was updated on April 18th, some of the information is outdated. For example, it says he has 6.55 million subscribers on YouTube, when really he has 7.41 million[5]. Considering the amount of information this page is lacking, it is surprising to see that some of the information included in wrong.

Summary

edit

Overall, I would rate this page as "bad". It has unreliable sources, uncited information, lacks important information about the creator himself, and the information present it outdate/ potentially untruthful. If these aspects were to be improved, it would be beneficial to anyone looking to read up on one of the more popular Minecraft content creators of the day.
