Kooba Cola was a soft drink that was advertised in the first few issues of Blue Beetle and on the Blue Beetle radio show. The drink was promoted as containing 35 USP units of vitamin B1[1] in a 12 oz (340 g) bottle, with a price of 5 cents (equivalent to $11 in 2023).
Coupons were also available in October 1940 issues of Mystery Men Comics, Science Comics, Weird Comics, Wonderworld Comics, Fantastic Comics and the first issue of Samson Comics.
The soda was bottled by Kooba Bottling Co. of Miami[2] and Malolo Soda Works, Hawaii.[3] A bottling plant was also located in Brooklyn.[4]
In Hawaii, a contest was ran that paid out 3 prizes for slogans. 20 runner-ups also received a case of Kooba cola each.[3][5]
Victor Fox hoped to create demand for the product and license the brand to a large soft drink company for development. However, this never happened, and the plans were shelved.[6]
