DIPAWALI Dipawali is the festival of lights.It is a famous festival of the Hindus.It falls in November.It is celebrated all over the world.It is said that the people of Ayodhya showed their joy by lightning lamps when Ram returned home from the exile. This was the origin of this festival.Another story is that Krishna killed Narakasaur and the festival began.
Great preparation are made for DIPAWALI. People get their houses white-washed and cleaned.They paint their furniture.Shops and decorated very well. New pictures are hung. People buy new clothes.Children buy crackers.When,the evening comes, people light lamps. There are rows of burning earthen lamps on the roofs. Burning candles, earthen lamps and electric bulbs are set in front of the house. They present a unique sight. Boys make a display of their fireworks. At night people worship Laxmi. She is called the Goddess of wealth. When the worship is over, sweetmeats ate and distributed.
The importance of DIPAWALI is great. We become nest and clean. The lamps burn inscects. So the environment becomes clean. We become happy. We forget our cares and anxieties.
