Originally from Sacramento, California, AKEN grew up listening to everything from classic rock, country, punk, and rap. He began journaling and writing poetry as a form of therapy when he began struggling with anxiety and depression. Influenced by artists like Post Malone and Machine Gun Kelly, AKEN changed from writing poems to writing songs when he was told by countless people that he had a great voice. He began practicing for hours a day to improve his voice and overall music knowledge. After a lot of practice he released his first project: a self titled EP. AKEN knew this was far from what he was truly capable of and went back into a time of study and practice to find his voice and sound. He emerged from this time of isolation with his single “Outta My Head” and his first full length album “Darkside” three weeks later. AKEN was born to be an entertainer and continues to push towards a future in the music industry.
