Chris Cuevas (born at Long Beach, Mississippi, USA, date pending) is an American singer-songwriter and production manager who, as of July 2014, is more notable for his behind-the-scenes work than for his recordings to date, the best distributed of which was his sole album for Atlantic Records, Somehow, Someway (Atlantic LP 82187), produced by Diane Pustizzi Gibson for GMI Entertainment, Inc.; Cuevas' last track to date to appear on an All Music Guide-listed album was his 1991 single "Hip Hop" (parsed from Atlantic DM 86029 for the Masters At Work best-of album Tenth Anniversary Collection, Part 1: 1990-1995 (Import Records 133015)). On the WEA Latina album La Ley - Libertad (WEA Latina LP 60265), Cuevas was Digital Editor and Mixing Assistant.
Starting in 2006, Cuevas is an artist manager at the Concord Music Group.[1] Cuevas remains active as a singer-songwriter in the country pop field, often playing at non-notable venues in the Baldwin County, Alabama area, in addition to distributing music on the Internet via his web page, /ChrisCuevas2004AOLCom, at MySpace.com. In 1991, Cuevas signed with Atlantic Records for one album: Somehow, Someway (Atlantic LP 82187). As executive producer, Diane Pustizzi Gibson of GMI Entertainment Inc. assembled a team of producers from across metropolitan New York City, including Fred Zarr and BiZarr Music alumnus Phil Castellano (who had worked on all three Debbie Gibson albums up to that time, also released by Atlantic), and S. Andrew Zulla (who had produced Gibson's single "Without You b/w Without You (Instrumental)," Atlantic Japan AMDY-5034).
Atlantic spawned three singles from the Somehow, Someway project. "Hip Hop b/w Hip Hop (Instrumental)" (Atlantic 87763 and DM 86029) reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot Maxi-Singles and number 39 on the Hot Dance. "Someday (Duet with Debbie Gibson) b/w Hip Hop" (Atlantic Japan/Warner-Pioneer AMDY-5059), a Japan-only release, was a minor hit on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart for 1991.[citation needed]. "You Are the One b/w Give Our Love a Chance" (Atlantic 87563) reached #58 on the Billboard Hot 100.[citation needed]
