Bandi Prasad was born in the year 1895 to Father- Tulsi Ram Jaiswal and Mother - Lakhi Devi at 54, Sukeas Street, Kolkata ( erstwhile Calcutta). His father arrived at Calcutta, India in the year 1918 from the village - Shahpur, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India.

He started his career as a trader of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals, in and around the belt.

In the year of 1943, when India was fighting for its freedom, he built the temple " Shree Radha Krishna Temple" at Dharmsala, Jaiswal market, Kolkata on a total area of 7200 square feet, and with a registered deed handed it over to a trust dated 12th November 1943.

In the year 1944, he went on to make a dharmshala (public rest house) in the name of his father and mother, " Tulshi Ram Lakhi Devi Jaiswal Dharmshala" at 40/2 and 40/2A, Lachaman Pura, Varanasi as a homage to his parents. Again he handed over the same in a registered deed of settlement and trust dated 2nd September 1949.

Bandi Prasad was a visionary and philanthropist person. His passion to help others above all and serve human society, led him to establish a 500-bed medical hospital, spread in an area of approx 4 Lakh sqft. He then donated it to the then chairman of Howrah Municipality and Speaker of West Bengal Assembly - Mr. Sialo Kumar Mukherjee under a deed of trust registered on 18th February 1946. Under the Bill "A" of The Calcutta Gazette dated 8th September 1961, this hospital was taken over by the state government of West Bengal. [1]

He died at his residence at 15, D.L.Roy Street., Calcutta on 21st August 1954 which was also Shri Krishna Janmashtmi - an auspicious day for Hindus.

He was survived by his sons Late Shri Dalip Narayan Jaiswal, Late Shri Pannalal Jaiswal, and Shri Jawahar Lal Jaiswal.
