Barefoot Walker

yes, that is the name i go by, though now usually use “barefoot runner” since i have added running to my repertoire.
regardless of weather, terrain, or location, i am always barefoot, and dress minimally, as dictated by weather mostly.
i call des moines, ia[1] my home, and have lived here most of my life; that is, since before i was six years old.
i was born on december 16, 1953, in dallas[2] (tx), and my parents were transferred to this location after that.
the name “barefoot walker” originated in 1993 though i had been going barefoot for many years prior except for work mostly. i had signed up for a march of dimes®[3] walkamerica™[4] (now called the march for babies™, which is where the reference points) to raise money for the organization. (please note that this is not an attempt to advertise that group, and therefore i have not provided a link to them, just the wiki link.)
the course went about ten miles or sixteen km. when i signed in, the person doing the check-in said in amazement, “you’re not going to do this barefoot, are you?” to which i replied, “i most certainly plan to.”
i completed that walk, and did a total of nineteen more after it. while the first two were the longest, i was determined to get in the twentieth one in, i think, 2018, as i missed a few. the name “barefoot walker” became my moniker for that event, and i decided to keep it.
i am often asked why i choose to be barefoot. usually i simply reply, “dislike of excess body covering. i only wear clothing that is essential, and footwear does not fit that category.”
my rôle here will be one of editing or submitting content to enhance a page. it is very unlikely i will be creating a page myself.
i should add that i always write in lower case.
finally, i exhort all to enjoy the delightful aspects of free feet!
