Bio
editHi, my name is Morgan. I love riding horses, and I own a Morgan horse whose name is King. We have been competing in barrel racing and pole bending (rodeo events) together for nine years. I also love to travel; I have been to seven countries and half of the U.S. states. My favorite place I have traveled to is Ireland; I have heritage there, and the scenery and old castles are beautiful. I hope to travel to more places throughout my life. Some other things I enjoy doing are singing, hiking, and hanging out with my family and friends.
Wikipedia is a great place to learn about anything and everything if the sources of the information are correct, and it is also a great place to add sound information. I am studying to become a court clerk, so I could see myself writing about different legal cases that I think are interesting. There's always a case going on, and if I am directly in the legal field working in the court room with judges and attorneys, I could provide information about interesting cases to Wikipedia.
Article Review
editSince I was a baby, I have grown up around horses and have always loved learning about them and how to take care of them. Over the years, my knowledge on horses has expanded through research and personal experience. Having the opportunity to critique an article on Wikipedia lead me to the area of horses; I found an article on hoof boots and three aspects of the page I believe are worth covering are its age, its lack of citations, and its structure.
Age
editThis page on hoof boots does not contain a lot of information, and before I did research, I believed the page's information was old and outdated. It was first created on February 5, 2007. Since then, it has undergone about 50 minor changes, most of which are edits to the form of the citations. The latest change that was done to the page was on August 31, 2017 and was concerning an issue with incorrect links on the page. Contrary to my belief on the information being outdated, much of the information I found on the Internet about hoof boots is from 2016 or earlier, so there is not an abundance of new and current information to add to Wikipedia's page about hoof boots.
Citations
editThe page lacks citations, and when I first opened the page, Wikipedia put a banner above the article saying, "This article needs additional citations for verification." The page contains two main paragraphs about hoof boots with the first paragraph containing two citations and the second paragraph containing no citations at all. The first citation is a book called Knack Leg and Hoof Care for Horses by Micaela Myers, but in order to see the whole reference, I would have had to purchase the book. The second citation is a link to a business promoting their various kits (of hoof boots) that one can purchase from their website. The page needs more reliable citations throughout its information.
Structure
editThe two paragraphs the page on hoof boots contains tells the reader about the different uses of hoof boots and although this is good information, the article does not expand past this. Areas that could be included are its history, the materials used to make the hoof boots, and the different types of hoof boots.
Summary
editOverall, I would say this page is good for someone who needs a quick definition of what a hoof boot is, but if the reader wanted to know more about hoof boots, research would have to be done outside of Wikipedia. This page does not contain information outside the use of hoof boots, and it does not include enough sources, which would make it difficult for the reader to believe the article's information.
