Melontown Gets a New Mayor is "A Children's Book of Traditional American Values." It was written by political activist, Sarah Durand of ConservativeKids.org. Colorful illustrations and whimsical rhymes carry the reader through a fun, and engaging tale in the importance of freedom.
The story is set in Melontown, a small town of happy melon farmers. But, when they elect a new mayor the rules in their town start changing in a very strange way; the new mayor loves making laws, especially silly laws...until the whole town is "a jumbled up, mixed up mess."
Controversy
Some parents have concerns about the book’s overtly conservative message in an already politically polarized nation. And, although some young children may not fully understand that message, their parents undoubtedly will.
