Ron Clay Belcher is a former Managing Director (CEO) of Shape Data Limited, a University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory spin-off company specializing in the computer-aided design (CAD) industry.Cite error: The <ref> tag has too many names (see the help page).[1] Additionally, he has published over ten articles related to the history of Kentucky. Belcher is also the brother of Kentucky politician Larry Belcher.

Early life

Belcher was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He graduated from Murray State University.

Shape Data

McDonnell Douglas Intelligence Systems acquired Shape Data as a subsidiary on October 30, 1988.[2] Belcher left Shape Data to become vice president of development for Spatial Technology (PlanetCAD) in Boulder, Colorado.[3]

Legacy

Belcher was commissioned as a Kentucky colonel by Governor Ernie Fletcher, in recognition of Belcher's role in the computer graphics industry.
