Bharat Sharma (born October 22, 1973) is an Indian-Canadian therapist and alternative-medicine believer, A prominent advocate for mental health issues in Edmonton, Alberta, his workshops and seminars, have made him one of the best-known and a leading figure in the area of mindfulness, meditation, and alternative medicine.
Sharma studied alternative medicine and Master of Social work in India before immigrating in early 2000 to Canada, where he studied social work and earned a Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling and a Clinical Supervisor in addiction counseling designation. As a registered professional counselor and licensed Social worker, in 2016, he started working in mental health counseling as a case manager for a project of Govt of Canada with DECSA. In that position, he was recognized for assisting 254 individuals with mental health issues to achieve their goals. Sharma believes that the mind affects the thought processes, mental state, and body. He considers peoples might be initially uncertain about seeking out help and support for mental health for personal matters, but when they do, they will feel confident that they are taking a brave first step towards getting to a better life and being a better person.
From 2015-2017, he worked for a Government of Canada project with DECSA, and he was recognized for assisting over 254 people in Edmonton with mental disabilities to overcome their challenges and achieve their life goals.
From 2017 -2018, Sharma was an integral part of a psychiatric interdisciplinary team supporting individuals with mental illness at an Acute Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry facility in Edmonton.
