Department of Political Science, Dibrugarh University:
The Department of Political Science, Dibrugarh University has been one of the oldest departments of the University. It was established in 1967. Its main vision to contribute to the development of an intellectual environment in which the dream of a harmonious and just society can be achieved. More than 100 candidates have completed Ph.D and more than 150 candidates have completed M.phil from the Department. There are total 11 faculties in the Department.
Facilities and activities:
1. The Departmental library is equipped with more than 500 books and a good number of national and international journals.
2. Classrooms, teachers cabins and seminar hall are equipped with ICT facility.
3. The Department has an Association called Dibrugarh University Political Science Association(DUPSA) consisted by both students and teachers. Various skills and lessons of democracy are taught through the activities of this association.
4. Students also engage in literary activities such as the publication of 'Swapneel', an annual publication of the Students, a wall magazine named 'Puhor' is also compiled by students of this Department every year.
5. Till date, total 25 seminars and academic talks are held in the dept. The latest talk was organized by the department on 'Political Economy of US India relations with special reference to intellectual property rights.' The speaker was Dr. Urbi Das from Jadavpur University.
Achievements :
1.The Department has carried out a number of research projects funded by both UGC and ICSSR on different issues related to NE region of India.
2. The name of the annual journal of the Department is 'Journal of Politics'. It's a double binded peer reviewed annual publication.
