Bijoylaxmi hota is an author , speaker and yoga Therapist. She was married to Late. Shri.Purna Chandra Hota [1], an I.A.S officer of Orissa cadre of 1962 batch. She has three children – Reema Singh (Indian Revenue Services) Prasenjit Hota , a businessman, and Reela Hota[2], the noted odissi [3] dancer.

With more than four decades of experience in yoga, Bijoylaxmi Hota has treated numerous health problems ranging from arthritis[4] to diabetes [5] and high blood pressure [6]. She is the disciple of Paramahamsa Swami Satyananda Saraswati [7], the founder of Bihar School of Yoga [8].

Bijoylaxmi Hota has written ten books on yoga and diet including a bestseller “Yoga for Busy People”[9]- all published by Rupa publications [10]. She has been a guest columnist with two leading dailies of India- The Times of India and The Hindustan Times. Bijoylaxmi along with Doordarshan, the govt owned national T.V Channel has produced a T.V serial on Yoga for women and children’s [11] problems. She has also appeared on various T.V programmes as a Yoga expert.

Her deep interest in India’s wisdom culture and tradition has led Bijoylaxmi Hota to the field of arts to express herself. Along with her dancer daughter Reela Hota she has conceptualised, scripted and penned lyrics for various dance recitals such as “Ramleela in opera “[12], “Sanskrit- the matra bhasha”[13] etc. She has also choreographed many dance pieces including the ones on “The Vedas”[14].
