Spectropolarimetry is the measurement of optical spectra coupled with light polarization. When used in astronomy, it can determine the strength or existence of a star's stellar magnetic field, and if it exists, it's strength and polarity. Spectropolarimetry was used to measure the magnetic field of the star Vega.
