Greetings,

My name is Bill Volckening and I am a quilt collector and author originally from New Jersey and now living in Portland, Oregon. I am here to contribute to the information about quilts and quilt history, and have already contributed photos to Wikipedia pages through Wikimedia Commons. Quilts from my collection have been exhibited around the globe and have been featured in a variety of books and magazines internationally. My first book, "New York Beauty, Quilts from the Volckening Collection" was published in 2015 by Quiltmania in France. The bilingual coffee table book charts the life story of the "New York Beauty" -- one of the most complex American patchwork designs -- from 1850 to 2014.

The Volckening Collection includes more than 300 quilts made between 1760 and present day. In addition to the antique and vintage quilts, several living artists are represented in the collection, such as: Andrea Balosky, Susan Beal, Teresa Coates, Cath Hall, Elizabeth Hartman, Yvonne Porcella, Kristin Shields, Jean Wells Keenan and Victoria Findlay Wolfe. I have a personal library with hundreds of quilt history books including some rare volumes, and quilts from my collection are in several of the more recent ones.

If you are browsing Wikipedia and looking for information about quilts and quilt history, I am always happy to share what I know and offer other resources. If I don't know the answer, I probably know someone who will know.

Thank you for stopping by, Bill Volckening Portland, Oregon http://www.billvolckening.com
