William Jay Curtin, commonly known as Bill Curtin (born 30 November 1982 in Illinois, United States of America) is an American teacher and outdoorsman.[1]
Curtin studied English Education at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois and began his teaching career in 2005 as a Spanish language teacher at thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City. After a semester, Curtin moved to the history department, where he taught US and World History for two years. In 2008, Curtin quit his job to hike the Appalachian Trail in sections, which he eventually completed in 2013.[2]
In 2009, he became an English teacher at Kankakee High School, where he completed his administrative degree. He organized a Parent Outreach event for the school in 2011.[3] He earned master certification as a teacher from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2012.
