After attending county schools in Converse and graduating from Douglas High School in 1987, Eathorne earned a degree in from Casper College,[1] as well as a Bachelor of Criminal Justice from Chadron State College.[2]
After graduation, he became a cattle rancher in Wyoming. He also served as President of the independent cattlemen of Wyoming[3] for six years until January 2018 and continued as co-director of district 7 (Fremont, Natrona, Converse).[4]

In 2015, he unsuccessfully ran against Matt Micheli for party chairman, but succeeded in being elected vice-chairman the following spring.[7]
In September 2017, Eathorne, then vice-chairman under party bylaws automatically became chairman of the party, when his predecessor Ryan Mulholland resigned his post[8] to work for IT-company Google in another state. He was elected chairman in November of that year.[7]
After becoming GOP chairman, he said that he understood his office as a service to the party's central committee and the platform and not for any personal agenda. He described his aims as ensuring financial stability for Wyoming, and for the uniting the party for the upcoming statewide elections.[7]
In October 2017, Eathorne stated that support for President Trump in the state was unwavering.[9]
