still dark. and still up too late. also sweaty!
maybe i'll treat this like a personal blog. but i probably won't. at least i know it's here?
Some Notes About Assignment 2: On Wikipedia
Here's the article i'm looking at Creative Commons
So let me wax a little ... quixotic. Is it fair to call Wikipedia quixotic? Probably not at this point. But it's a little bit fun. In a sense, I might want to call Wikipedians quixotic. Mainly because I don't buy into it as readily as others do. Do I buy into its use? Yea. Sure that's fine. But I'm don't feel ready, or really passionate, about contributing. Am I following the path of a luddite, holding on to the last grasping strands of an old knowledge industry, slowly floating away? Probably. But I don't see the value of me adding to Wikipedia. At least... not any time soon.
At this point, this is a personal response to my experience as a Wikipedian. As a Contributor. All hail the great power of Knowledge. Or something. Anyway! LET'S HAVE AT IT!
I made my edits today. Pretty simple. Changed a bit of wording and added a reference to the Creative Commons page. I also participated in some discussion in the Talk page by asking them where a certain news item would fit. Nothing has happened so far. It's kind of cricket like.
Of note is that the article is very much unfinished - at least according to Wikipedia standards. It is apparently not a very good article.
