Therianthropy Citation Project

edit

I'm planning on adding citations to therianthropy (citations which I had originally added as part of the failed disambiguation/expansion project, that got erased with the reverts). Since the people who watch therianthropy are constantly harrassed by vandals, they get pretty strict and erase all of your stuff if one little thing displeases them, or if someone vandalizes right afterwards. I'm planning this carefully so I can add good citations and it'll look nice enough that it hopefully won't be erased.

Currently, therianthropy breaks Wikipedia rules about no original research and verifiability and using websites as reliable sources. Therianthropy resists all mythology-based material, so it is almost entirely about a subculture with statements supported by websites. The only reference material cited is an 1886 work and a 1933 work, which could not apply to a subculture that started in the 1990s.

Published sources that could be used for citations do exist, three books:

  • Cohen, D. (1996) Werewolves. New York: Penguin. ISBN 0525652078
  • Greene, R. (2000) The Magic of Shapeshifting. York Beach, ME: Weiser. ISBN 1578631718
  • Steiger, B. (1999) The Werewolf Book: The Encyclopedia of Shape-Shifting Beings. Farmington Hills, MI: Visible Ink. ISBN 1578590787

Teen Wolf disambiguation/expansion

edit

I'm editing and expanding the Teen Wolf movie article, as well as splitting off the Teen Wolf cartoon TV series as a separate article. I did a combined edit/disambiguation/expansion because there originally wasn't enough material about the cartoon to make more than a stub.

Unsuccessful Therianthropy disambiguation

edit

I made Therianthropy (subculture), Therianthropy (mythology) and Therianthropy (fiction) as part of a quest to disentangle a problem that seemed to be screaming for disambiguation, in the process vastly expanding the mythology section and expanding the subculture section, and adding citations throughout (because otherwise the mythology would not have been big enough to split off into an article).

However, I had some problems with the main article, Therianthropy, auto-reverting instantly. After people finally told me what was going on at Talk:Therianthropy I was able to add my mythology additions to the main article, but the additions were removed about a week later, because they supposedly belonged in lycanthropy instead. So I added them in there. So far, they seem to be sticking in there.
