Shadow Cities is a location-based multiplayer game for iOS.
After being torn from the world years ago, magic is returning, and spilling through rifts and tears in the barrier between worlds. You take the role of a mage belonging to one of two academies, Architects or Animators who are competing for supremacy in this new magical world. You can gain power in your neighborhood and help your academy become great by controlling neighborhoods, capturing spirits, battling other mages, and tapping into energy gateways scattered around.
Gameplay
editBy physically moving around in the real world with your mobile device, you move your character around the in-game world. Magical gateways are scattered around, and you can tap into these gateways to accumulate energy for your academy. You can also capture roving spirits to gain experience points for you and energy for your academy. Missions and experience points help you level up, improving your character and expanding your list of spells, and number of gateways you can control
Spells are cast by pulling down a special window and drawing shapes such as a Z or L on the screen with your finger.
In addition to moving in the game world by moving in the real one, you have the opportunity to warp to certain locations or to friends' locations. This allows players to capture gateways and spirits in other, distant locations.
Besides advancing your character, the main objective in the game is to help your academy win weekly campaigns. At the end of each round of the campaign, the academy which has accumulated the most energy wins, and individual top energy contributors are rewarded with character bonuses and medals.
