Robert L. Marchessault

Canadian painter (born, 1953, Montreal, Quebec). His art has been exhibited in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe since 1978 when he began as a professional artist. Marchessault graduated from Dawson College (1975, Montreal), Concordia University (1978, BFA, Montreal) and the University of Toronto (MA, 1995, Toronto). The artist is represented in Canada by Bau-Xi Galleries (Toronto & Vancouver) and Gallerie de Bellefeuille (Montreal). In the United States he is represented by Foster White Galleries of Seattle and in the UK by Rebecca Hossack Galleries.

Marchessault's work focuses on landscape, primarily devoted to trees as the main subject. The art is representational but is not based on specific views, the paintings are created amalgamations based on numerous drawings and oil sketches. The artist expresses an Eco-consciousness attitude towards his subject and strives to elevate people's perception of nature.
