Hi, my name is B. Ngo. I am Vietnamese-American. I am a college student.
I am very proud of my Vietnamese heritage and am therefore very interested in most articles about Vietnam (as well as Asia in general).
Most of the additions I make to any Vietnamese article is to ensure the NPOV of the aricle as well as to make sure that people do not unwarrantably marginalize Vietnam's history or current economic success.
I am NOT trying to change Vietnam's history so that China never colonized Vietnam and have it that France was the one that got colonized (my friends always make fun of me for this). However, because of the Vietnam War and Vietnam's Communist government, many Westerners (and even Vietnamese) attempt to belittle Vietnam's successes. I hope to make people realize that with all of the bad things that Vietnam has done, some good things have also occurred.
However, one of the articles that I am NOT going to touch for the time being is the Vietnam War article. That article is like a fricking POV, reactionary mine-field. I don't have time for all of that.
Wow, after reading my above remarks, I realize how accusatory I am sounding right now ... Um, I like long walks on the beach and I like steak ... a lot. Is that good enough for levity?
Okay, I'm going to stop now. To summarize, if you read a Vietnam discussion page, you'll most likely find me somewhere in there. Just be polite in your responding remarks and I will return the favor.
Also, if my friends are reading this ... and you know who you are ... don't judge me. I couldn't help it. I had to make a Wikipedia page. I know, I know ... my stupid Vietnamese pride. Hey, no one's perfect. Manchen, I'm particularly talking to you. LOL.
