The (Greater Barrie Area), commonly known as Greater Barrie, Barrie-Orillia Area or The Barrie Metropolitan Area is the census metropolitan area in Southern Ontario for the Canadian city of Barrie in Ontario, Canada. Greater Barrie surrounds the western shore of Lake Simcoe in the central portion of the Golden Horseshoe. The area consists of the neighbouring municipalities of Innisfil in the south, Orillia in the northeast, Essa Township in the west and Springwater Township in the northwest, with the anchor being the city of Barrie. As of the 2021 census, Greater Barrie had a population of 212, 856 residents and is the 21st largest census metropolitan area in Canada.
