After graphing the edit counts for a few of the Warriors articles, I began noticing trends. Here is where I will post some results, and theories.
Graphs
editFirst off, here are the graphs:
The trend indicates spikes in editing April 2006, April 2007, December 2008, and December 2009. Perusing through the article histories will show us some interesting patterns.
Trends
editOne thing that is instantly noticeable is that in each spike, there are 1 or 2 editors who do most of the work. From this, we can chart a set of "dynasties" in the history of WikiProject Warriors.
Dynasties
editThe Dark Ages/The Beginning
edit- Ca.May 2005 to December 2005 In this era, the main article, Warriors (novel series) was first created. Most of the work was done by anonymous IP editors, and the page was a mess, and consisted mainly of plot descriptions that read like advertisements, and a list of terms with their definitions. Little work occured, and the article required major Cleanup.
- Primary contributor of the time was 70.245.234.42.
Expansion Age/71.224.198.39's Reign
edit- Ca. January 2006 to September 2006 Major expansion of the article occured. Although much content was added, the style remained similar to an advertisement. A list of herbs were included, and terms and Clan structure was better explained. However, the article still lacked crtical reception, and was still in extremely bad shape. Many fans also advertised their fansites, on the article and in the talk. The lack of a User:Sinebot made it difficult to track commentors without looking through page histories, as most anonymous editors did not sign. However, the editors worked to cut down on advertisement. The Erin Hunter article was created at this time by User:Dragonexpert19.
- Top three contributors (not necessarily by edit count, but by quality): 71.224.198.39, TakaraLioness, Res2216firestar.
Other notable editors included 24.93.232.176, Lemontail, Firestar717, Moonshimmer, Yanksox, 70.49.100.14, and 67.171.22.128.
- Top three contributors (not necessarily by edit count, but by quality): 71.224.198.39, TakaraLioness, Res2216firestar.
Calm before the Storm
edit- Ca. October 2006 to March 2007 In this age, the edit level slowed down somewhat, but editing remained at a fair pace. With the arrival of TakaraLioness, plot summaries became less promotional. The list of terms was removed (possibly moved to another article, subsequently deleted?), and a section about the movie was created. The quality of pages steadily improved with more regular contributors, such as TakaraLioness, Minesweeper.007, Res2216firestar, and DoomsDay349.
- Top three contributors: TakaraLioness, User:Res2216firestar, and DoomsDay349
Other notable editors of the time included: Minesweeper.007, Whitepelt, 67.163.161.120, Griffenflash, Yaanu, 70.112.159.110, Kitsufox.
- Top three contributors: TakaraLioness, User:Res2216firestar, and DoomsDay349
Golden Age
edit- Ca. April 2007 to May 2007 In this age the edit count exploded to approx. 1000 a month, which remains the current record. The articles underwent major expansion with the work of TakaraLioness, Minesweeper.007, Textangel and Spottedstar. Seperate articles for each book were created, and quality continued steadily improving, as an infobox was introduced to the page, descriptions of books were fixed, and other good things happened.
